It’s amazing how much time people spend talking about writer’s block! Why are writers are always having to defend themselves when they’re in “process?” Are we writers “hung up” on our own hang ups? Probably. Maybe we all just need a good pizza, ’cause staring at the clock doesn’t help. Neither does spending time on YouTube or UbuWeb. Writer’s block happens to the best of us. You sit down to write and nothing but garbage comes out. You ask other people for ideas– and somehow you end up as a raving lunatic smacking your head against your desk. Maybe you should be nicer to your writing equipment or just start randomly rhyming. Sitting at that desk is a sad, hard vibe . A couple of warnings, though: if you start imagining that concrete objects can talk, or if you begin talking to your “writer” self like you’re in a scene out of Fight Club, perhaps you should check in to a nearby hospital. Also, if you feel like selling your soul to Satan, or stabbing yourself over and over with your pen, it might be time to take a little vacation.
