Here’s a little proof of the power of clever fiction, not far off from “A Modest Proposal” or “War of the Worlds.” This little gem came to me from a good friend:
“A Neglected Anniversary” by H.L. Mencken.
If Mencken had been correct, yesterday would have been the 165th anniversary of the bathtub. His article was published in the New York Evening Mail and is still cited (incorrectly) in scholarly documents. What a touching holiday to celebrate this season!
