There’s a terrific new story up on KRO by G.K. Wuori centered around a carjacking gone unpredictably awry–spend a little time with it, and you’ll want to read the dialogue out loud…
There’s also a top-shelf review by Dan Torday of Sarah Manguso’s new memoir, The Two Kinds of Decay. Manguso is a marvelous poet, too–so while you are out picking up her memoir (you can find many tastes of it online, here and here), you should also pick up a book of her poems. Siste Viator, her second collection, is full of figurative winks and bear hugs. Conversely ironic, then earnest (and it’s nearly impossible to be both at once, though Manguso can do things with tone that astonish), there’s always a little cruelty lurking in Manguso’s caring, always a precariousness in the moment.
Ploughshares has a gem from Siste Viator, here. Get thee to a bookstore!
