A controversial new book by Jack Holland, “Misogyny, the World’s Oldest Prejudice,” that is being published posthumously, is slated to start showing up in bookstores in mid-August. […] He had turned in the completed manuscript to his Viking editor Carole DeSanti in February, shortly before he found out he was sick.
He had tried to reassure DeSanti that all would be well with the book after he was gone. “Don’t worry, Carole, it will be a great book,” he said from his hospital bed, according to Hudson.
DeSanti had been screaming at Hudson, “I can’t handle this,” when she learned that Holland was dying, she said.
