If you haven’t seen it on the inside back cover of the new issue of KR, there’s a tribute to Meg Galipault, and the role Meg played over the past five years as managing editor of the Kenyon Review. Dan Wickett, of the Emerging Writers Network (and other sundry sources of fame) has written a send-off and thank you for her there. KR especially–but the whole litmag world in general–are truly better places as a direct result of her generous efforts. I know, I’m trying to figure out how to do the managing editor job half as well as she did.
Some changes to announce, on the eve of 2008: If you’re reading this, you’ll notice that we’re in the beginning phases of a website redesign that matches the redesign of the print journal. Be very excited.
The blog is changing a bit, too. You’ll see less of me around here, and more of Jessica Johnson, Kirsten Ogden, Sean Casey, Heather Christle, W. David Hall, and Andy Grace, each of whom have agreed to be regulars for the forseeable future. They represent a great plural swath of genre interest and influence, and a phenomenal group of emerging writers. In addition, you’ll continue to see many of the other regular bloggers around here, too. Check back often to see what everyone is up to.
We hope to see many of you at the AWP conference this year in New York, in late January. We’ve got some surprises up our sleeves–literally. Be sure to visit our book fair booth and say hello.
Last, but not least, while we’ve announced a shortening of the current reading period, stay tuned for details about a Short Fiction writing contest, for authors under 30, with a submission period in early February. The winner will be published by KR and offered an inclusive scholarship to our Writing Workshops this summer in Gambier, Ohio. More details to follow.
