Poem in Your Pocket Day is just around the corner. You remember how much fun it was last year. It goes smoothly if you’re prepped – the KR associates have been working all week to make buttons and posters and hand-outs. Here are a few preliminary steps for a successful National Poem In Your Pocket Day:
1) Look for some poems! Check out the pocket-sized poems from Poets.org.
2) Get in contact with your local library to see if they will participate in events or post poems.
3) Print out poems to share with strangers.
4) Download the Apple widget to keep a countdown on your desktop and share poems. Or at least write it on your calendar and hold your breath until Thursday.
5) Check out the Poem In Your Pocket Day images on Flickr for inspiration. (Especially this Kenyon poster by Stefan Gunn.)
6) Brush up on tips for reading aloud. (via Finding Dulcinea)
7) Sew poem-sized pockets on all of your clothes.
