This is the twentieth year National Poetry Month has been commemorated–it began with the Academy of American Poets in 1996–and we’re pleased to be part of the national celebration.
As I write this, our students are designing and assembling buttons for Poem In Your Pocket Day. They’re also selecting poems to share with everyone in our community next Thursday.
The Kenyon Review is a sponsor of the Academy of American Poets’ National Poetry Month this year. The Academy has also partnered with places like the Washington Post, and today the Post released an impressive series of animated lines from poems by Dunya Mikhail, Mary Karr, Edward Hirsch, Kevin Young, Nick Flynn, John Yau, Patricia Lockwood, Michael Robbins, Tracy K. Smith, and Victoria Chang. It’s the best thing you’ll see on the internet today.

Don’t have a poem in your pocket yet? Check out Adam Fitzgerald’s list of 30 Poets You Should Be Reading in LitHub, and the 21 poems already featured in The Rumpus (one each day during National Poetry Month).
If you’re in the Gambier area, please join us next Thursday at 4:10 for readings by Adam Clay, Richie Hofmann, Marcus Jackson, and Natalie Shapero!
