Neema Avashia is a veteran civics teacher in the Boston Public Schools. She was born and raised in West Virginian by Indian immigrant parents. Her work has appeared in Hong Kong Review (1, no. 1), Superstition Review (no. 23), Still: The Journal (no. 29) and is forthcoming in Cosmonauts Avenue. She was a Peter Taylor Fellow at the Kenyon Review Writers Workshop in the summer of 2018.
