Ana Martins Marques was born in Belo Horizonte in 1977. She holds a PhD in Comparative Literature from the Federal University of Minas Gerais and is the author of the poetry collections A vida submarina (Scriptum, 2009), Da arte das armadilhas (Companhia das Letras, 2011), O livro das semelhanças (Companhia das Letras, 2015), and O livro dos jardins (Quelônio, 2019). Her awards include the Brazilian National Library Foundation Prize (2012) and third place for the Prêmio Oceanos (2016). An anthology of her poems, translated into English by Elisa Wouk Almino, was published by Scrambler Books under the title This House.
Daniel Persia is a writer, translator and PhD candidate in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at Princeton University. His translation of Escritos (Writings), by Basque sculptor Eduardo Chillida, was published in 2019 for the re-opening of the Chillida-Leku museum in Hernani, Gipuzkoa, Spain. His research explores collaborative frameworks for the translation of Afro-Brazilian literature.
