Billy O’Callaghan is the author of three short story collections: In Exile (Mercier Press, 2008); In Too Deep (Mercier Press, 2009); and The Things We Lose, the Things We Leave Behind (New Island Books, 2013), which won the 2013 Irish Book Award. The recipient of a 2010 Arts Council of Ireland Bursary for Literature, his fiction was a UNESCO Cities of Literature selection for 2014, and has appeared in numerous journals around the world, including: the Bellevue Literary Review, Confrontation, Fiddlehead, Hayden’s Ferry Review, Kyoto Journal, Los Angeles Review, Narrative, Southeast Review, and Southword.
