Chika Unigwe is the recipient of the BBC Short story Competition and a Commonwealth Short Story Competition award, and a Rockefeller Foundation award. Her first novel, De Feniks, was published in Dutch in 2005; her English-language novels include Night Dancer (Jonathan Cape, 2012) and On Black Sisters Street (Ohio University Press, 2011). The latter, which was a New York Times Editors’ Choice has been translated in Hungarian, Italian, German, Hebrew and Dutch, and is forthcoming in Spanish. It won the 2012 Nigeria Prize for Literature, Africa’s largest literary prize.
