Kim Henderson

Kim Henderson is the author of The Kind of Girl (Rose Metal Press, 2013), which won the Seventh Annual Rose Metal Press Short Short Chapbook Contest. Her stories have appeared in Tin House, H_NGM_N, Cutbank, River Styx, The Southeast Review, and elsewhere. Originally from New Mexico, she has lived in Missoula, Montana, where she earned her MFA, and now lives on a mountain in Southern California, where she chairs the Creative Writing program at Idyllwild Arts Academy.

When I was nine and enamored with Charlotte’s Web, I would sneak outside after bedtime in search of the spider that would save me. I didn’t know what I needed saving from, but I knew that in my story, I was the character who required rescue.
