Sena Moon

Sena Moon is the recipient of the 2020 PEN/Robert J. Dau Short Story Prize for Emerging Writers and second-place winner of the 2021 CRAFT First Chapters Contest. Her work has appeared or is forthcoming in Boulevard, Quarterly West, and The Fiddlehead. She earned her MFA from the Helen Zell Writers’ Program. Moon hails from Seoul.

Porn Star

We found the list stuck in our motorized chalkboard, squished between the asbestos and the backboard, gathering dust but still relevant, as we still were then, the girls of class 2-11. Summer was over. The stench of ginkgo biloba permeated the school grounds in dirty wafts of September. The second semester of our second year in secondary school had begun, and the list ranked in sprawling letters—from gorgeous to plain Jane to butter-face—our attractiveness, our bangability.
