These are the still days the days of quiet light
and night stars days empty even of grief days
of tree-dapple and meadowsweet of leaf-swirl and
cicada hum let them lengthen into future seasons
let them come multitudinous as rain let them be
as rain a blessing on the water a blessing on this land
a sheet fluttering in the mild wind and let the sea holly
and cinquefoil come as a tide into this meadow rising
into the fullness of afternoon let the curtains of pollen
aurora the dawn that rises around us like a deeper wave
rises like another arriving tide tied to the fading moon
tied to this thing that has again arrived this thing we call
tomorrow
