The James Number

The nine essays which make up the body of this number are in tribute to Henry James upon the occasion of the hundredth anniversary of his birth. They were prepared under the direction of Robert Penn Warren, who has edited the special number.

Incidentally, the occasion marks another and smaller anniversary: the completion of our fifth year of publication. An Index to Volume V is supplied at the end of this number.
